Why was publishing this book important to you?
I love writing, and I have always wanted to write books! I've been a licensed Esthetician for 25 years, and have had a long-held dream of writing a book for my clients that included all my best skincare advice and explained my personal and professional philosophy: Skincare = Self-Care.

What, if anything, did you feel like was lacking in other books in your genre?
Well, I am also a Yoga & Meditation Instructor, Reiki Energy Healing practitioner, spiritual seeker, and avid reader of spiritual and personal development books. I wanted to blend everything I've been studying for the last few decades into a simple, beautiful book that gives my clients a clear idea of how it's all connected, and I do feel my book is unique in that way!

What's something you learned about yourself through writing?
I learned that I am very easily distracted, just like so many writers! Also, I learned that I really love the feeling of accomplishment after following through on my commitment to such a long-term project, and I can't wait to write - and finish - another book - someday!

What do you hope readers walk away thinking after they’ve read your book?
 I hope readers walk away with an affirmed belief that they have inherent beauty. That THEY themselves are the beholder whose eye their beauty lies in, if that makes sense...and that self-love, self-respect, self-esteem are skills we can and must develop. That those qualities really do lead to feeling better about the way we look, and that's where transformation gains momentum - with our increasing self-love.

What are some books you’ve read recently that have inspired you?
The Book of Self-Care by Mary Beth Janssen; Plant-Based Beauty by Jess Arnaudin, Becoming Supernatural by Dr. Joe Dispenza; Meditations From the Mat by Rolf Gates; The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz; Women Who Run With The Wolves by Clarissa Pinkola Estes; The Book of Joy by His Holiness The Dalai Lama & Archbishop Desmond Tutu; The Universe Always Has A Plan by Matt Kahn;

What else would you like to include in your author feature article?
While becoming a new author is my most exciting role at the moment, I am also an Advanced Practice Licensed Esthetician; Owner/operator of an award-winning, small skincare spa called Complexions On Carter Skincare Boutique in St. Paul, Minnesota; Creator of a brand new online course called The Clear Complexion Course, open for enrollment on my website; Happy wife & proud mama! I want to Thank the Wise Ink team for everything you've all done to bring my dream book to reality!
